The Apple iPad is the latest consumer device from Apple.

Apple have already revolutionised the portable music player market with the iPod and iPod Touch and dominated the mobile phone market with the iPhone. One of the most exciting elements of your Apple iPad will be the slick functionality that it offers you to read books on the device itself. The new iBookstore will feature books from many of the major authors and publishers that you can download on to your iPad and enjoy when you’re good and ready.

As well as Apps, games, music, photos, movies and books your iPad will also let you carry out many of the functions that you’d expect to be doing on a more traditional computer. Apple have developed a new version of the successful iWork suite for the iPad, so users will be able to produce great looking documents, create smooth and compelling presentations as well as handy charts and spreadsheets on their iPad as well.

Much like the iPod and iPhone, your Apple Ipad will quickly and easily Sync with your Mac or computer via the normal Apple 30-pin connector - so you can make sure that you always have your latest contacts, favourite tunes, movies, TV shows, photos and games.

Apple have said that your iPad’s battery should last for up to 10 hours and the battery in the iPad should be good for 1,000 charging cycles, which for most iPad users would last about 5 years.

The Apple iPad has 3 main models: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Each of these models will come in 2 versions – the standard Wi-Fi model and the Wi-Fi +3G model. The Wi-Fi versions will be the cheapest iPads.
