Following the launch of the Apple iPad across a further 9 countries today, I carried out a quick survey to find out who in the world has the cheapest iPad prices and who pays the most.
It was a simple test. I took the price of the Apple iPad 16GB Wi-Fi model from the Apple store website for that particular country and then using a well known currency conversion website, converted those prices in to British Pounds.
The results were staggering. UK iPad customers pay £106 more for the iPad 16GB Wi-Fi model than the a customer in the U.S. and £104 more than a customer in Hong Kong.

So, with 19 countries now enjoying the iPad, the UK is still paying the most. Let’s face it this is not a complete suprise as in the UK we always seem to pay more for stuff.
That’s why we all get excited when we go abroad and come back with armfuls of clothes and electricals, but come on Mr Jobs or Mr Cameron give us a break. Don’t you know that there’s a recession on and even the most gadget hungry of us are a just a little short of cash right now?
However much UK iPad fans are eager for a bit of HD touchscreen action, some of them may now start to think that maybe they should wait a bit until there are some cheaper iPad deals around…that or Mr Cameron drops the rate of VAT!
