John Lewis have yet to confirm when they will be stocking the Apple iPad in their stores.
DSGi the company behind PC World and Currys had an exclusivity agreement with Apple, in which its stores could sell the iPad alongside Apple stores and Apple independents. This agreement was for 60 days from the launch of the iPad in the UK.
John Lewis, Tesco and Comet have all reportedly signed agreements with Apple to sell the iPad in the UK and it was expected that they would start as soon as DSGi’s exclusive deal finished.
With 10 days to go until the end of DSGi’s deal, there have been know announcements from any of the additional retailers.
I have been talking to John Lewis now for nearly 2 weeks and they are still unable to confirm when they will be stocking the iPad.
As the UK launch was delayed because of a lack of stock, it could be that John Lewis et al are being put on hold until Apple have enough stock in the country and that those resellers with live agreements are being prioritised for stock right now.
