The iPad launches in John Lewis and Comet

Apple iPad launches at Comet2 months after the Apple iPad launched in the UK, it is now available for the first time in John Lewis and at Comet.

Customers will be able to buy all 6 iPad models, with the cheapest iPad (the 16GB Wi-Fi model) being priced at £429 at both stores.

The pricing then for both the Wi-Fi models and the 3G models is no different to any other retailer at this stage.

After Apple launched the iPad in the UK in May, alongside the Apple store and Apple independents, only PC World and Currys were allowed to sell the new iPad for the first 60 days.

John Lewis would appear to be a very good fit for the Apple iPad, as its customer tend to be more affluent customers who enjoy good quality electronics. They also have a very loyal customer base who aren’t a particularly price sensitive lot.

Comet customers are used though to getting good value from the retailer and will be no doubt hoping that Comet break with the seemingly universal pricing currently in place for the iPad and introduce some price competition in to the market.

The iPad is available both online and instore with John Lewis, although the cheapest Apple iPad models, the Wi-Fi versions all seem to be out of stock already according to the John Lewis website.

The iPad is not yet available through Comet’s website, but they have posted a list online of where it is possible to buy the iPad in their stores.

Tesco, the other retailer that has reportedly signed a deal to distribute the Apple iPad in the UK has at this stage made know comment about when its customer will be able to purchase the device.
